Sian Climbs

Mount Everest

Sian Peters climbed Mount Everest to raise money as well as awareness for Scotty's Little Soldiers. What an incrediable young lady and what a remarkable achievement well done Sian, here's her story:

"In October 2011, I trekked from Lukla Airport, just on the outskirts of the Himalayas, in Nepal, to Everest Base Camp. I was hoping to advertise and introduce Scotty’s Little Soldiers to my friends, family and work colleagues whilst raising some money for a worthy cause. I succeeded. So far I have raised over £600, with work and a few friends yet to pay up!

Trekking to Base Camp was hard going and freezing cold, but worth it. It took two weeks, of 8-10 hour days of walking, to get there, whilst living off lentils, potatoes and rice.

I was lucky enough to be surrounded by some amazing people. The views we got to share of the mountains were truly breath taking, and Mount Everest is so beautiful to actually see. Some days were really hard going, but I was always going to get there, I had too. Reaching Base Camp, at an altitude of 5364m, was such an achievement, and I can't explain how happy I was! The size of my smile in the photos, says it all!

I hope to raise as much money as possible in the future for SLS. It is such an incredible charity, and they do a brilliant job helping others. I'm really glad I had the opportunity to help."
