Scotty’s are really excited to announce we are holding our first ever Support Retreat

Our first ever Support Retreat!

Dates:
10am Friday 29th May 2020 —  5pm Sunday 31st May 2020

Venue:
Victory Services Club (VSC), London

The Support Retreat will give 20 Scotty members aged 9 -12 years an opportunity to meet other bereaved forces children, explore their grief, share their stories, remember their hero and feel reconnected with their military community. They will learn ways of coping with challenges and realise that it is good to smile again. During the retreat each member will have a military buddy who will partner with them for the duration of the Retreat and help them to feel re-connected to their military family.

If you would like to help support our members during this retreat, we have 3 roles for volunteers:

Buddy: You will need to be either a serving member or veteran of the Armed Forces. This is a supportive role and whilst there are no specific qualifications required the ability to connect and empathise with a child whilst encouraging them to take part in a mixture of therapeutic and fun activities is essential.
Please look at the job description for further details.

Group Leader: You will need experience of working with children in a group or therapeutic setting. You will be leading the delivery of therapeutic and fun activities to a group of 10 children and their buddy’s. Whilst you do not need to be a serving member or veteran of the Armed Forces an understanding of the armed forces community would be an advantage.
Please look at the job description for further details.

Counsellors: You will need to have a counselling qualification and experience of working with bereaved children and adults. You will be available to provide support to our families and volunteers if needed as well as to advise on therapeutic activities. Whilst you do not need to be a serving member or veteran of the Armed Forces an understanding of the Armed forces community would be an advantage.
Please look at the job description for further details.

If you would like to discuss these opportunities further, please call our head of support Bev Townsend on 08000 928571 option 1 for an informal chat.
