Scotty’s Wishes Team Mission: Everest Best of Luck as They Take on Record-Breaking Everest Challenge in support of Military Community
Scotty’s Little Soldiers is proud to be benefiting from funds raised by the Mission: Everest team – including Veterans Minister Colonel Alistair Carns – as they attempt a world-first ascent of Mount Everest in just seven days, carrying with them Cpl Lee Scott’s name tag.

This week, a team of remarkable individuals set off from London to Mission Everest – a bold expedition to summit the world’s highest mountain and return to the UK within just seven days. It’s a challenge that defies conventional Everest ascents, which usually take around two months, and pushes the limits of endurance, precision, and resilience.
The Mission: Everest team includes Veterans Minister and former Colonel Alistair Carns (photographed with Scotty’s founder Nikki Scott) who is committed to supporting veterans and their families, with a focus on bereaved military children. He is joined by Major Garth Miller, a seasoned Everest climber; entrepreneur and former Special Forces operator Kevin Godlington; and ThruDark co-founder and former Special Forces sniper Anthony ‘Staz’ Stazicker.
Scotty’s is incredibly touched that the team has chosen to support the charity through this extraordinary feat. The funds raised will help provide vital support to children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.
The charity was founded by Nikki Scott in 2010, in honour of her husband, Corporal Lee Scott, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2009. So far this year, Scotty’s has supported over 740 bereaved military children and young people, offering 1:1 bereavement support, opportunities to connect with others, educational assistance and moments of comfort and community.
As the Mission: Everest team climbs to the top of the world, they’re carrying something deeply personal: Corporal Lee Scott’s original name tag. It’s a treasured keepsake that Nikki usually carries in her pocket at poignant moments – a reminder of where Scotty’s began and the reason behind its mission. Nikki sent her husband’s name tag to Kevin Godlington to take on the expedition, and it’s the first time she has entrusted it to someone other than her daughter – it has been sewn onto a Scotty’s flag and will be carried on this historic journey.
“I hugely treasure Lee’s name tag,” said Nikki. “Lee wore it, so it’s a reminder of Lee, of our children, and of the promise I made that no bereaved Forces child should ever feel alone. Knowing it’s with the Mission: Everest team, making this incredible journey, is such a powerful tribute to Lee and everything Scotty’s stands for. It feels like Lee is there on the challenge with them. I’m grateful to the team for their support and I wish them all the very best of luck – we’ll be cheering them on every step of the way.”
The challenge itself is unlike anything attempted before – climbing and descending Everest in just a week. The team has trained relentlessly to prepare to overcome extreme altitudes, unpredictable weather, and life-threatening terrain, all while setting new standards in responsible, lightweight mountaineering.
Scotty’s Little Soldiers is encouraging them every step of the way and is enormously grateful for their support and partnership.
